In
my 25 plus years in the horse-man-relationship I have had no greater disappointments
than the loss of Two Box Drifty, and have had few greater joys in sharing
his life with him. In a world that can often be full of difficulty and
hardship, Two Box Drifty brought all the things that made life better through
those times.
From the first day that I ran my hand down his neck and over the bridge of his nose, he wanted to give me his best and asked me for mine. He had that rare combination of confidence and trust that made him a wonderful partner and friend. Because he was who he was, I always ask the most of him in the most difficult of situations, and he never let me down. We lived and worked through every challenge and came through most, feeling better about who we were and how we did it. Until the day I said goodbye, he always made a tough place a little less tough.
Two Box Drifty has influenced much of the past 11 years for me and most of the hope that I have for the future still rises on the horse that he was. Because of this one horse, I believe even more in raising good horses. And because I still believe in the vision of durability and sensibility that Two Box Drifty embodied, we have decided to continue with our breeding program, by standing two of Two Box Drifty’s sons for the 2008 breeding season.
